McRups (est. 1998) - The Home Base
Like Smurfs smurf, rupsen Rupsen
Welcome to the home base of McRups, also known as
Motor Collective Rups
On the edge of the new milennium some accidental passersby sat down in a pub.
The beer flowed freely and soon the understanding came that like Smurfs smurf, rupsen Rupsen. Rups beiing the Dutch word for caterpillar.
The foundation of a 'rups-club' soon afterwards became a fact. That the club had to do something with riding motorcycles was at that time all too evident and so became into beiing a motorcycle collective and it's parole.
McRups started as an informal collective of people who at times joined together to ride their motorcycles. People organised now and again some weekend away or complete roadtrips spreading over weeks. Who wanted, joined, who didn't stayed at home.
The website www.mcrups.nl 'came 'on air' and all together became quite something. Especially the guestbook was a frequently visited place where a lot of information was shared, plans where made and a joke now and again made it a pleasent place on the internet.
Times are changing, people go their own way. McRups sometimes pretended to be a genuine biker-club but in the end it always stayed informal and casual, exactly how the 'members' liked it. With the temporarily shutting down of the website it was feared that the ending of McRups was a fact. Now, more then 10 years after it's first uprising and after lying dorment for a couple of years, there again is 'De Rups'.
the informality naturally stayed and that is why;
- 'We' are nobody, have nothing to do with anything, are not here and want it to stay that way -
- We meet occasionally, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose, allways without strings attached -
- We follow nobody to nowhere, lead no-one to anywhere, we ride -
- Religion, philosophy, confiction or choise of ride, sort it out for yourself -
- No sponsors, financial donations etc. -
- No formal organisation and especially no chapters, president, hang arounds etc.-
McRups also has friends online. They are www.McFreeriders.nl (logically evolved from the first primal-McRups) and www.Vanderpijl.org (the website of Boots)
This site is mainly in Dutch with exeption of this first index page. Posting in the guesbook (clik on 'guestbook' and then on the image presented) can be done in either Dutch, German, French or English
